Defibrillator
The Village Hall outside wall, together with the Phone Box on the main street, hosts the village AED Defibrillators.
To use it call 999 for an ambulance and follow their instructions. Do keep the phone number of willing neighbours near to hand. The ambulance service can call them to fetch the AED while you do CPR.
The Village Hall, Parish Council, Southwest Ambulance Trust, Community Heartbeat and two generous local donors came together to provide the defibrillator.
Solar Panels
Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the village hall.
The project was partially funded with a grant of £4000 from the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust with landfill tax contributions donated by Cory Environmental, to whom the Management Committee expresses its thanks.
The panels generate electricity for selling to the grid (or use when the hall is occupied during daylight hours) and reduce the village’s CO2 footprint. They provide a steady income for at least 25 years. In its first full year, the treasurer’s estimate of income was exceeded, and in a poor year for sunlight!
At the 2018 AGM it was announced that a fund has been started from this income to pay for maintenance and eventual replacement of the panels. (The efficiency is believed to drop off after 25 years in the sun. We shall see!)
As of the start of 2021 the income has already paid for the panels, as well as saving a lot of CO2!
