Solar Panels

Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the village hall. The project was partially funded with a grant of £4000 from the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust with landfill tax contributions donated by Cory Environmental, to whom the Management Committee expresses its thanks. The panels generate electricity for selling to the grid (or use when the hall is occupied during daylight hours). These should provide a steady income for at least 25 years. In its first full year, the treasurer’s estimate of income was exceeded, and in a poor year for sunlight!

The Village Hall, Parish Council, Southwest Ambulance Trust and Community Heartbeat have come together to provide the  defibrillator mounted on the Hall. Two generous local donations have covered the rest of the costs.  To use it call 999 for an ambulance and follow instructions. Do keep the phone number of willing neighbours next to your phone.  The ambulance service can call them to fetch the AED while you do CPR. Do watch this CPR video now! You might save a life.

Village Hall AGM

This was held on Friday 21 April, when Richard Goldman replaced Chris Isherwood as chairman and Aideen McEvoy- Wilding replaced Mike Willsmer as Treasurer. The outgoing incumbents were thanked for their many years of service. Earlier Mike Willsmer noted that HSBC had paid £200 for their incompetence and that the solar panels were generating just under £2000 per year. The evening ended with wine and nibbles.
