Solar Panels

Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the village hall. The project was partially funded with a grant of £4000 from the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust with landfill tax contributions donated by Cory Environmental, to whom the Management Committee expresses its thanks. The panels generate electricity for selling to the grid (or use when the hall is occupied during daylight hours). These should provide a steady income for at least 25 years. In its first full year, the treasurer’s estimate of income was exceeded, and in a poor year for sunlight! At the 2018 AGM it was announced that a fund has been started from this income to pay for maintenance and eventual replacement of the panels. (The efficiency is believed to drop off after 25 years in the sun. We shall see!)

Defibrillator

The Village Hall, Parish Council, Southwest Ambulance Trust and Community Heartbeat have come together to provide the  defibrillator mounted on the Hall. Two generous local donations have covered the rest of the costs.  To use it call 999 for an ambulance and follow instructions. Do keep the phone number of willing neighbours next to your phone.  The ambulance service can call them to fetch the AED while you do CPR. Do watch this CPR video now! You might save a life.

Why not? The astronomers used it to bring the moon landings alive from YouTube. What will you use it for?

Village Hall AGM

This was held on Friday 26th April when the new committee was elected; only one change, David Swaffer retires as secretary and Mike Willis replaces him. The hall is well used and generally in good condition. Some painting will be done during the coming year, and the dripping canopy over the side door may be replaced. The evening ended with drinks and nibbles.
